The Ultimate Sacrifice

It was “a slap in the face” for Islam and Muslims, Sunnis and Shiites alike, when Saddam Hussein was hanged on the Day of Sacrifice (Eid-ul-Adha).  He may be portrayed as a tyrant or a dictator during his lifetime, but moments before his death, he appeared calm, composed and dignified, in contrast to the ”despicable heckling” from certain bloodhounds.  By being a “sacrificial scapegoat” at the altar of political expediency, he may very well be remembered as an Iconic Hero for the Palestinians, the Arab World and Beyond.
Al-fatihah for the late Saddam Hussein.  May his soul rest in peace in the hereafter.

Hello world!

To kick off the New Year, and turning Nigella Lawson’s How To Be A Domestic Goddess on its head, I decided to migrate and revamp my blog based on 2006’s final posting. From the insular ‘A Maverick’s Notebook’ to the more engaging ‘N Notes’, my fervent hope is for this blog to evolve into a more vibrant discourse on cultural politics (‘The Personal is Political’), namely identity and empowerment.  Here’s to a Bright and Bountiful 2007!
